Making Children Happy, One Wish at a Time

When a child’s wish is granted, something miraculous happens. It can change his or her entire world and spark a light of hope that has been dimmed by a life-threatening medical condition. The majority of children who receive wishes go on to lead healthy and productive lives beyond childhood.

The Metro St. Louis Chapter serves children in eastern Missouri and southern Illinois. The Chapter was founded in 1986 and was chartered and incorporated as a non-profit 501(c) (3) in Missouri in 1990 (and later in Illinois.)

In our first full year of operation, five wishes were granted. Since then, we have gone on to grant more than 1,900 wishes!

Wishes are financed through individual contributions, corporate donations, foundation grants, planned gifts and through fundraising events. We receive NO federal, state or local government funding and do not receive funding from the United Way.

Funds raised locally stay local. Last year the Chapter granted 158 wishes. This year, with the help of generous donors like you, we can grant even more.

The Chapter has a variety of donor programs including Sponsor of All Seasons, Adopt-A-Wish® and our annual Hope Grows Here summer campaign, and Stories of Light winter campaign.
